The Development Trend of Linear Guide

With the increase in machine speed, the use of guide rails is also transformed from sliding to rolling. To improve the productivity of machine tools, we must improve the speed of machine tools. As a result, the demand for high-speed ball screws and linear guides is rapidly increasing.

1. high-speed, high acceleration and deceleration rolling linear guide development

Japan THK has developed SSR guide vice, it uses the following technology:

2. The development trend of the rolling linear guide of the roller type

Roller type rolling linear guide vice has a long life, high rigidity and low noise and other key features. It is divided into O type and X type two categories, X type for the German INA company to develop new products.

3. With magnetic grid measuring system of rolling linear guide vice

Schneeberger has developed a rolling linear guide named “monorail”, which combines the linear motion guidance function and the magnetic grid – digital display displacement detection function into one. The magnetized steel tape is attached to the side of the guideway, while the magnetic head that picks up the signal is fixed to the slider of the guideway and moves synchronously with it. The minimum resolution of the magnetic grid measuring system is 0.001, the accuracy is 0.005, and the maximum moving speed is 3m/min. The longest guideway can reach 3000mm, with a reference point every 50mm. “Monorail” rolling linear guide vice has the following characteristics:

(1)compact structure, easy to install, occupy little space;

(2)due to the measurement system installed in the guide body, significantly reduce the error, improve the accuracy of the length measurement;

(3)the magnetic grid sealed in the guide body, thus increasing the measurement system anti-interference ability.

4. Development of miniature guide sub

For medical, semiconductor manufacturing and metrology devices, THK developed guide widths of 1mm, 2mm, 4mm and other three models (length 100mm) standard products, with the following characteristics.

(1)Ultra-compact: LM guide sub-series in the smallest cross-sectional size, high reliability of ultra-compact products. It meets the requirements of light weight and space saving of equipment.

(2)Low rolling resistance.

(3)Ability to withstand loads in all directions.

(4)Excellent corrosion resistance: LM guide and ball are made of martensitic stainless steel, with excellent corrosion resistance, most suitable for use in medical equipment and clean rooms.
